Greetings Everyone,
One year dies. Another is born. We’re all still here. Ia! Ia!
In other words, Happy New Year.
First I would like to thank everyone for making 2014 a very successful year for Golden Goblin Press. I apologize for being so silent for the last few weeks. We closed down the Goblin Lair for the holiday season. But never fear, we reopen on Monday January 5th and are eager to push hard into our rather plump production schedule.
But let’s start off by looking back. In 2014 we ran, and you funded, two GGP kickstarters; Tales of the Crescent City – Adventures in Jazz Era New Orleans, and De Horrore Cosmico – Six Adventures for Cthulhu Invictus.
Tales of the Crescent City was delivered on time. There was a serious problem with the delivery of some of the international backer rewards, being redistributed through a third party. I am happy to say this issue seems to be largely resolved. At least a dozen of you have emailed me this week alone to say that you’ve finally received your rewards. The last stretch goal for TotCC, a PDF scenario collection called Legends of New Orleans, is moving onto the front burner in January 2015. It is our hope to have this item released to backers during Mardi Gras Season 2015 (February 3rd – March 9th). It may be then be available for purchase on our website, likely 1-2 months after the backer release.
De Horrore Cosmico remains in production. We got a lot done on this before closing for the holiday break. All the scenarios are written; four of the six are edited. Two thirds of the patrons for Stretch Goal V are written. Maps and interior are is progressing, begin between 40% – 60% complete. Our layout artist is ready for the final manuscript, once we get it finished, and the printers is ready for it after that. We’ll be placing the orders for the coins, masks, and statues before the end of January 2015. We hope to have this project released to backers, and the world, before the start of the summer 2015 convention season.
Golden Goblin Press plans to attend more conventions this year, running our own original published and exclusive unpublished scenarios. We are happy to say we plan to attend TotalCon, Dexcon, Origins, ConnectiCon, Necronomicon, and Carnage on the Mountain. We may be adding Gamerhole to that list, if there isn’t a scheduling conflict. We may turn to crowdsourcing to help us out with travel expenses, and would be offering a few exclusive items to those generous supporters. Check our Facebook Page for the very latest Golden Goblin Press news.
So what’s on the horizon in 2015? Will there be a 2015 Kickstarter? I hope so. We are in soft production on Tales of the Caribbean, a collection of 1920’s – 30’ Call of Cthulhu scenarios, written for the new 7th edition rules. Launch would be in mid-September with delivery of the spring of 2016. The final team is still being selected but we can announce that Lisa Padol will be editing, Reuben Dodd will be our artist, Mark Shireman shall be handling layout, and some of the scenarios will be written by Jeffrey Moeller, Dave Sokolowski, and Oscar Rios. We’re waiting for firm commitments from several other authors before making formal announcements so stay tuned.
We are also exploring other smaller projects, such as publishing a number of one shot scenarios on PDF (~cough~… Cathulhu Invictus… ~cough~…Hobo scenario… ~cough~…). Again, for the very latest news on all upcoming projects please follow us on Facebook. So that’s all for now…
Be safe.
Be happy (if you are into that sort of thing).
Be reflective on the old year and ambitious in the New Year.
But most of all keep your dice handy, because the Goblins will be working hard to bring you the very best Call of Cthulhu supplements we can possibly manage (and so far we’ve done okay). 😉
Oscar Rios – President, Golden Goblin Press.
