Mongolian Death Worm (Olgoi-khorkhoi)
The first reports of this mysterious creature came to the western world from Professor Roy Chapman Andrews, in his 1926 book On the Trail of Ancient Man. Neither he, nor numerous cryptozologists since, have ever been able to prove the existence of this beast, although locals firmly believe in the creature and many have given detailed descriptions of the creature. The Mongolian Death Worm, also known as the Olgoi-khorkhoi or the Large Intestine Worm, lives in the remote and inhospitable southern Gobi Desert of Mongolia, where it has been sighted dwelling in sand dunes and valleys. Said to be blood red in color, sometimes with brown blotches, these creatures range between two and five feet in length. It has no discernable eyes, although reports suggest that the worms are in no way blind. A spike protrudes from the creature’s blunt tail.
The Olgoi-hkorkhoi is attracted to the color yellow, for some reason. Above ground it moves either by rolling or slithering sideway, much like a Mojave Desert Sidewinder. The worms usually travel by burrowing underground, but can be sported on the surface when hunting or after a heavy rain. The creature is most active during June and July, hibernating underground during other months. Reports from sightings suggest that the Mongolian Death Worm is a solitary creature.
Special Abilities: The Olgoi-khorkhoi is called the Death Worm for good reason. Witnesses have reported the worms being able to kill animals as large as a camel with ease. It is coated with a thin layer of slime, which is poisonous to the touch (POT 16). The creature hunts by squirting lethal corrosive venom (1d6 per round, for three rounds) at its prey, outwards to a distance of twelve feet. This venom is said to turn whatever it hits yellow. Lastly, the beast can discharge a deadly electrical shock from its tail once per day. The shock has a range of twenty feet and delivers 4d6 points of damage.
